Principal’s Pinnacles

I’m looking forward to celebrating Columba Day with you all on June 9th at 3pm!

Talofa lava!  It’s Samoan language week and it was fabulous to have Shiah and Giaan doing a Samoan dance in Assembly today, joined by parents Pelu Taele and Christina Mualai-Lima.  It was a highlight of my week joining with some of our Pasifika families to have lunch together afterwards.  The atmosphere was jovial and the food was fabulous (special thanks to Justin and Eterei), and I enjoyed trying some new things – including tasty chicken hearts!  I’m also delighted to see Emy was awarded an academic scholarship by Pacific Trust Otago.

Seeing the achievements of some of our students in the Arts this week has been wonderful.  Monet and Clara did us proud at the Rotary Speech Competition, and Clara is a shining star on the debating stage.

I would have loved to attend the year 11 formal, and I hear it was a fantastic evening, but I was away at the Secondary Principal’s Conference.  It was a rich learning experience, with some top quality seminars and keynotes from Education Minister Erica Stanford, and Associate Education Minister David Seymour.  I am grateful to our wonderful Senior Leadership Team for enabling me to have this time away.
